Intel in association with Safaricom, a Kenyan based service provider has announced an Android based smartphone named Yolo on Thursday evening. It is Africa’s first smartphone with an Intel processor inside. It is aimed at those middle class people and youngsters who cannot compromise quality for cost.
The Yolo features include a 3.5 inch HVGA display, powered by an Intel Atom Z2420 1.2GHz processor, 512MB RAM, 400MHz GPU, Dual-SIM, 4GB internal storage expandable up to 32GB using a micro SD card, Android 4.04 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and a 5MP camera with 1080p HD video recording. Global roaming is also possible with Intel’s XMM 6255 modem (HSPA+ modem support).
Yolo is priced at $125 (KSh.10,999) and bundled with 500MB of free data.
